NURSING CARE SESSION:
Date : 24.2.2019 Venue: Rosegarden Institute, Woraiyur, Trichy
Certificates will be issued for all participants – Nursing/Paramedical Staffs/Students.
With improved health literacy, people are living longer than ever before. Currently, the average Indian life expectancy is around 80 years; but with greater longevity comes more complex health concerns. This makes providing the best care more challenging, and means it is even more important to be well educated.
Poor education and a lack of sufficient knowledge can lead to mistakes that are costly for people’s health. Improved knowledge is an essential tool for prevention of errors and providing higher quality care.
Education and understanding best practice care delivery is more than numbers earned each year; it’s a commitment to being a professional, keeping up-to-date, continuously seeking to improve, and ultimately a commitment to provide individuals with the best care.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:
By Dr Thanaraj MD.,
When it comes to providing safe and effective healthcare, the formality of following algorithms and protocols is perhaps more important than in any other industry. But while having processes in place may seem mostly reserved for situations that seem otherwise predictable, there is also a need for a certain level of consistency that should be practiced during times of unpredictable events if patients and staff members are going to have the best chances of being safe.
DIABETES MANAGEMENT:
By Dr Joseph Pannerselvam
Managing diabetes can be a daunting task for patients with cancer. Empowerment-based diabetes education and motivational interviewing are complementary approaches. Oncology nurses may feel unprepared to teach patients and their families about self-care for diabetes, but they provide individualized information on symptom management of cancer throughout hospitalization and at discharge. The essential self-care issues include food, exercise, medication, blood glucose monitoring, prevention, recognition and treatment of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, and when and how to get additional medical and educational support.
FLUID MANAGEMENT:
By Dr JaySuresh
Management of fluid intake and nutrition is an essential component of nursing care and should be practiced skilfully by all nurses and nursing students. Fluid input/output charts in hospital inpatients are a valuable source of information for doctors reviewing intravenous fluid prescription, but are notorious for being incomplete and inaccurate. Lack of awareness of the importance of fluid balance among nursing staff and an excess of unnecessary monitoring are two factors contributing to the problem.
CHEMOPORT AND PICC LINE:
By Dr G Govindaraj
Many cancer patients will receive chemotherapy infusions as a part of their cancer treatment.
Sometimes, chemotherapy is delivered safely through a standard (or “peripheral”) IV line. Other times, infusions must be administered through a central line catheter, such as a PICC, CVC or port.
