Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality among adults in India. In 2016, about 14 lakh cases of cancer were recorded

Statistics on how cancer strikes more women
”One woman dies of cervical cancer every 8 minutes in India,” while, ”For every 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, one woman dies of it in India.”
The fact that more number of women have cancer than men in India reverses the global trend, which sees a 25 per cent higher cancer incidence of men than women.
According to a recently released World Cancer Report, 5.37 lakh Indian women were diagnosed with cancer in 2012, as compared to 4.77 lakh men. On the other hand, death caused by cancer is higher among men, as compared to women.
This initiative has been taken by Harshamitra cancer centre and Rosegarden charitable trust.

Its a great and a privileged moment for us to co ordinate and conduct a Free cancer screening and awareness camp with the Trichy City Corporation. Harshamitra with Trichy City Corporation has conducted one such for the welfare of Women Worker of the Sanitation and Hygiene Department of the city on 24.3.2019.
Dr G Govindaraj and Dr P Sasipriya Govindaraj took part in this event and checked many people for cancer symptoms. Free breast check ups and free PAP Smear test were done for the staffs at Woraiyur Government Hospital, Trichy by our special team of physicians and paramedics. Dr Amutha was also a part of the event.
Free screening was done for around 85 members of which roughly around 6 members were detected with the symptoms of cancer.
Screening camp was conducted by Harshamitra Superspeciality cancer centre on 28.2.2019 at Ariyamangalam. This screening camp serves as an eye opener for a handful of women. Breast cancer screening was done by our esteemed lady doctors.
